Hunters Hill- Underpinning Stage 1

At THN Group, we recently completed a successful underpinning project in the beautiful suburb of Hunters Hill. Stage 2 Underpinning

Stage 2 underpinning job that focused on enhancing the structural integrity of a residential property. This critical phase involved reinforcing the foundation to ensure long-term stability and safety for the homeowners.

Underpinning Stage 3 Complete

This final stage focused on ensuring the long-term stability and safety of the property’s foundation. Our dedicated team worked diligently to implement the necessary measures to reinforce the structure and prevent future issues.

Orange Public School- Stage 1

Over 70 acre props have been installed. The front and back masonry wall linings supporting the rear walls, including all concrete lintels, have been removed. All trade waste has been disposed of. An excavator rock saw with a tungsten blade was used to cut the concrete slab overhang on the front fascia to allow for new concrete slab tie-ins.

During our absence, the building was extended into the courtyard. The first floor was also extended, with the roof structure being supported by a metal framework.

Penrith Friable Asbestos Remediation

THN GROUP recently dealt with a difficult situation where a fire at a nearby garage shed left asbestos debris in our client's backyard. After confirming asbestos presence through dust sampling, we worked closely with a hygienist to create a thorough remediation plan.

Our tasks included:

- Remediation of pavers
- Scraping 50-100mm of soil beneath decking, paver surfaces, and across the backyard
- Removing all shrubs, pots, and tree branches within 3m of the ground
- Disposing of the rainwater tank
- Disposing of all porous items
- HEPA vacuuming affected roof sheeting, guttering, timber deck, red brick walls, and white cladding
- Cleaning non-porous items on the decking
- Emptying and cleaning the fishpond

Fire Restoration- Stage 1

THN responded to a job at a house that had been vacated following a fire in the upstairs master bedroom.

The master bedroom, ensuite, and walk-in wardrobe suffered extensive fire damage. The upper level exhibited particles of incomplete combustion (PICs) along with smoke and soot damage resulting from an electrical fire.

Friable Asbestos Remediation- Set up

THN was engaged to perform asbestos testing after a tradesperson removed some eaves and accidentally dropped them onto the brickwork below, subsequently resuming their work. The combination of muddy ground conditions and continuous foot traffic led to damage of the eave lining, which was later verified to contain asbestos. As a result, asbestos debris became scattered throughout the rubble and was pressed into the soil.
In response to the situation, THN put forward a remediation strategy for the job site, recognizing that cross-contamination had taken place due to the foot traffic.
To address this issue, an exclusion zone was created using our three-stage decontamination unit, black builders' film, temporary fencing, and geotextile fabric to ensure safety and proper containment.

Raby Structural Encapsulation

The floor under the upstairs shower had significantly deteriorated due to a water leak, compromising its structural integrity. The leak affected the main bathroom, WC, and ensuite. A full-height strip of these areas was removed to address microbial growth. Upon removal, the floor was found to be unsalvageable. The yellowtongue was trapped beneath the floor joists and base plates in an unusual construction, requiring remediation and removal. After the floor was taken out, we returned to perform antimicrobial remediation on the remaining floor and exposed joists and wall studs. We used Surface Shield, an encapsulant suitable for situations where timbers cannot be practically removed. This product allows water to escape while containing microbial contamination. All affected areas were treated, and a PRV was conducted through swab and air sampling by an occupational hygienist, which passed.

Refilling excavated areas and restoring affected landscaping to its original condition, ensuring stability and minimal environmental disruption.
